The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the world's oldest operating salt mines. The mine is a world-class attraction, inscribed in UNESCO's First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Itinerary: The tourist route starts 64 metres below ground level and ends 135 m below the earth surface. During 2 hrs. tour you will explore underground world of labyrinthine passages, magnificent saline lakes, mysterious caves and extraordinary chapels excavated in rock salt and decorated with numerous salt sculptures and reliefs. The highlight of the tour is St Kinga’s Chapel which is the most spectacular and the biggest among underground chapels in the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Tour ends in Budryka Chamber where you can do some shopping, have a cup of coffee or mail a postcard from the underground post office. Then a lift will take you back to the surface.

Note: Tour is not recommended for claustrophobic people and for who may have problems with walking. Visitors enter the Mine descending a 380-step staircase to Level 1 (64 meters below ground level).Lift down on request extra paid. The temperature in the Mine, though constant is low (14oC i.e. 57oF). The mine is closed on: 1st January, Easter Sunday, 1st November, 24th and 25th December.
