Krakow


Krakow is located in the south of Poland. Krakow was a capital of Poland until the 16 century. It is one of the most beautifully cities of Poland and informally is know as a cultural capital of Poland. Krakow with its great historical and cultural heritage is a premier destination in Europe. What to see in Krakow:


The top tourist attraction in Krakow is Main Market Square. The huge 10-acre square is one of the largest squares in Europe, a heart of the city. Very worth to see is St. Mary’s church the most glorious of all Poland’s Churches with its famous wooden altar made by the greatest sculptor of the Gothic art Wit Stwosz. Don’t miss the Franciscan Church especially worth seeing for its astonishing stained-glass designs. One the most important thing to see when visiting Krakow is Wawel Hill with the Royal Wawel Castle and Royal Cathedral with its astounding medieval architecture and Sigmund's Chapel, known as the "pearl of the Renaissance” Krakow is one of six places in the world which boast a painting by Leonardo da Vinci. You can admire Leonardo’s masterpiece Lady with an Ermine in The Czartoryski Museum. The other place definitely worth visiting is a very unique and modern underground archeological museum underneath the Main Market Square. One of the biggest Krakow attraction is Kazimierz the old Jewish District, very well preserved, included on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List, especially worth visiting during the Jewish Culture Festival. Schindler’s Factory is another a must-see museum. The Schindler’s Factory become famous thanks to Steven Spielberg film The Schinder’s List. The museum presents all aspects of the history of Krakow under the Nazi occupation. If you are visiting Krakow you cannot miss tour to Auschwitz-Birekanu a former Nazi death and concentration camp. Just 15 km from the city centre is located Wieliczka Salt Mine which is absolutely must see if you are in Krakow. Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest operating Salt Mines in the Europe.
